Skip "Blameless" Bayless

Thursday morning on the ESPN2 morning show, Cold Pizza, syndicated sportswriter, Skip Bayless, made an ass out of himself by blaming the NFL for the current problems of Maurice Clarett. The former Ohio State football star was arrested following a chase with police and four loaded guns were found in his SUV. Bayless claimed that if the NFL would of allowed Clarett to enter the NFL draft in 2004, he would not be in the situation he is in today.

We can argue until France finds courage if Clarett should of been allowed to enter the draft after he only played one season in college. To actually blame the NFL for Clarett's problems with the law, which include armed robbery, is ludicrous. No one told Clarett he couldn't continue his education, continue playing college football after his suspension (falsified police report) or play pro ball in Canada. He made the decision to illegally obtain firearm's and allegedly committed an armed robbery outside a Columbus bar. No one forced him to elude police the other night, but according to Bayless everyone else is responsible except Clarett.

The sad reality is that too many young kids grow up star athletes and are placed on a pedestal while growing up. Suddenly they find themselves being told "no" or "you must obey the rules" and they can't handle it. The only one to blame is Clarett and to extent his up-bringing.

War-Time Victory

Yesterday's events in Britain can only be described as a great victory in the war against Islamo-fascism. As information is being released, we have learned that cooperation between the Brits, Americans and Pakistan intelligence agencies, thwarted the latest major terrorist attack. It also appears; to the dismay of the ACLU and the far-left, the NSA wiretap program played a key role in preventing this attack. We must rely on intelligence information to prevent attacks and arrest the would be perpetrators. The government must be given the appropriate tools to defeat our enemy.

Some believe that we must never give up any civil liberties, regardless of the danger posed against this country and the free world. Freedom is not free and I will gladly allow the government to listen to phone calls and know who is downloading bomb making instructions off the internet, if it means preventing future attacks an defeating those who want to convert everyone to Islam, take away the rights of woman and reopen the gas chambers for Jews.

Tammy "Debate Ducking" Duckworth

It's very difficult to talk negative about any person who has served our country and even more so when they have been permanently injured while serving. However, when your physical disabilities are blatantly being used by Rahm Emanuel and Nancy Pelosi for political gain, the truth must be spoken.

In 2004 the Democrats ran Christine Cegelis against 16-term incumbent Henry Hyde. In a predominantly Republican district, Cegelis got over 44% of the vote. Hyde is retiring and in 2006 the seat is open, but the Dems decided not to back Cegelis and her previous 44% showing. Instead they found a military veteran, Tammy Duckworth, who lost both legs in Iraq and does not even live in the district to be the party backed candidate.

As a political junkie I thought nominating a disabled war veteran was a good move in a very patriotic district. When I felt this way, I assumed she also was politically astute and lived in the 6th congressional district. Neither appear to be the case. Shamefully it's obvious that Emanuel and Pelosi are only interested in exploiting a crippled veteran for political gain.

On Duckworth's website, the issues section is vague and obviously copied from the DNC playbook. She has recently made headlines by not willing to debate her opponent, Sen. Peter Roskam, R-48th District, of Wheaton. Simply put, the Democratic power brokers rather parade her around in her wheelchair at picnics and parades in front of photographers, but don't want her to speak on the issues.

Duckworth is an honorable woman, who deserves our gratitude and respect for her service. Right now she is being exploited by political whores who are simply using her sacrifice to our country for their own purposes. Truth is that everyone, especially the media, has known she is being used since they taped her to run. However, everyone is afraid to say something in fear they will be labeled a bigot.

Well this person with a physical disability knows she is being discriminated against. Unfortunately, it's by people she thinks are her friends.

Normally we tend to agree on things Paul, but if we are to sacrifice of our civil liberties, then we may as well arm the very terrorists we're trying to stop, because this wouldn't be a country I'd want to live in.

The fact is that a court order isn't that hard to get for a wiretap. I don't need the government listening in on my phone conversations or looking into what I buy at the grocery store. If they come to think I'm a threat, then let them get a court order and start the inquisition.

It's a good thing I saw your post tonight. It reminded me to renew my ACLU dues.

How is Fred Phelps and Frank Collin doing these days? Glad to see that ACLU dues money going to defend the rights of people who if they had their way would not allow my children and gay friends the right to life.

During WWII, Roosevelt suspending civil liberties 10 fold compared to the current administration. Back then we were fighting for our lives and today we are doing the same. If some analyst in Virginia wants to listen to me discuss my Fantasy Football picks or tell my children I love them, that's fine with me. If they want to know that I enjoy looking at a nude woman on the internet every so often, that's fine to.

Unlike the far left I understand that the government doesn't care about my private life no matter how boring or disgusting it may be. They are only interested in knowing if I have any intentions of blowing up airplanes or subway cars. I welcome them to rule me out and move on to the next person on the list.

Dude,

I guess you're willing to give up your freedoms for freedom. When the U.S. becomes a totalitarian state, Paul, will you be gleeful because you're safe?

Ahhh, the voice of paranoia. History shows the New York Times made the same argument during WWII. Do you always carry fear inspired talking points printed by George Soros?

If you think it stops at them simply listening if you're up to no good, then you're being naive.

If they know you're looking at ladymen.com, what's to keep someone from noting that fact and bringing it up someday if you were to run for elective office? Or even help out on a major campaign.

Apart from being ungrammatical, that's a lie. Duckworth agreed to four out of seven proposed venues, three of which will be broadcast, which of course will reach several thousand times as many viewers as partisan events such as the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce. Duckworth might as well speak to the staff of the Illinois Republican party as debate Roskam there.

Is your claim that unless Duickworth accepts every single debate forum that Roskam proposes, she is "DUCKing" debates? (Clever, that. Like when I used to call my sister "Lisa Pizza".)
