Whatever Happen to Common Sense?

Carter, Dingell & Buchanan

No, they are not the names of a 70's Progressive Rock Group. However, two of the three our loved by the Progressive Movement, while the third may be a member of the Third Reich. Jimmy Carter's editorial in yesterday's Washington Post is the most recent example of his history of incompetence toward the Arab/ Israeli conflict. The man simply doesn't get it. He undoubtedly believes there is a moral equivalence between Israel and terror groups. "Key players on all sides waiting for every opportunity to destroy their enemies," Carter wrote. "One of the special vulnerabilities of Israel, and a repetitive cause of violence, is the holding of prisoners." Noting Hezbollah generously offered to exchange the soldier, the one they didn't kill, for the release of 95 women and 313 children in Israeli prisons. I guess Israel should release militants to help Hezbollah and Hamas launch rockets into Israel. Better yet, these criminals will help increase the pool of available suicide bombers.

Congressman John Dingell (D-MI), during an interview on Detroit TV station WDIV said, "I don't take sides for or against Hezbollah or for or against Israel." Dingell may represent a large Arab constituency, but to not recognize that Hezbollah is nothing more than an evil entity is shameful. Hezbollah is responsible for the murder of over 300 Americans since 1983. If Dingell can't support Democracy over terrorism, than his worth as a human being is non-existent. I ask that you join me and the Republican Jewish Coalition and demand that the Democratic leadership and especially Dingell's colleagues in the House, condemn his remarks.

It's hard for me to write about Pat Buchanan without going on a tirade and mentioning the man's mother. Therefore I have decided to take the easy, yet noble way out and allow another writer speak for me. I will simply say that Buchanan represent a near dead breed within the conservative movement. He is from a time when the "WASP Way" was the only way. If Buchanan had his way there would be electrified one hundred foot tall fences surrounding our borders and the only immigrants allowed in the country would have to meet Hitler's standard for the Aryan Nation.

Passion of the Shmuck II

Mel has apologized again. This time he actually addresses his anti-Semitic verbal rampage and is asking the Jewish community to help him during the "healing process." Is he an alcoholic? I don't know, never ben bar-hoping with Mad Max. Does he dislike Jews, you betcha! However, as a Jew I can forgive, but never forget. The ball is in your court Mel. For your sake I hope you overcome whatever problems you have with liquor and do hope you see the error in your thoughts and feelings about Jews or any human beings. The question remains, can he deep down repent and love all people. The book is not closed on this one.

Qana Massacre Dispute

Regardless of responsibility, the Israeli government apologized for the innocent civilians killed in Qana. However, questions have been raised, since the building collapsed eight hours after the Israeli strike. We know for a fact that Hezbollah has in the past built weapons facilities underneath schools and oprhanages. Stagging a massacre for political purposes isn't beneath Islamic extremism. A Lebanese web-publication is already blaming Hezbollah for the massacre. Sadly, regardless of the truth the world will blame Israel. Nevertheless, the truth must always be spoken, even if the majority won't or doesn't want to believe it.
