Shabbat Shalom 24 Iyar 5768

As I sat down in front of the family computer to begin the creative process for this "Shabbat Shalom" edition of Paulies Point, I realized that there is a greater amount of stupidity, ignorance and political pandering than usual dominating the news this morning. Even good news has been corrupted by ignorance and politics. OK I will shut up now and allow you to see what I mean.

Do you want cream and sugar Infidel?
Dunkin Donut scarf controversy simply ridiculous

My readers know that when it comes to fighting Islamic fundamentalism, combating terrorism and supporting the state of Israel, you will find no columnist, blogger or politician more committed than yours truly. That is why when we allow the ridiculous to distract us from this ongoing fight for our right to exist, I feel it necessary to help get the conversation back on track.

I love Dunkin Donuts. Their coffee is better and cheaper than Starbucks. The Donuts have on more than one occasion helped me quiet my children during a long car ride and I must confess that their chocolate creme-filled, when properly prepared, is the best donut on the market.

They also present themselves with a very pro-America approach. You will find that they abide by immigration laws and in fact have created corporate policies requiring their stores to not hire illegal immigrants. They have gone to court to terminate franchise contracts with owners who knowingly hire illegals.

Growing up in a community with a large Jewish population, the local Dunkin Donuts was
certified Kosher. To this day you can always find a Kosher Dunkin Donuts in a community with a sizable Jewish population.

The fact that anybody could conceive of DD being anti-America, anti-Israel or pro-terrorism is mind-boggling. However that apparently is the case as some right-wing bloggers have made an issue out of a scarf that celebrity spokesperson Rachel Ray wears in an online advertisement.

Now before we go on any further it should be noted that I am not attacking Michelle Malkin. She has been the dominate force bringing the keffiyeh scarf issue or scarfgate into the public eye. However she is not attacking DD or Rachel Ray directly. Her angle and she has a valid point, is the simple ignorance of celebrities and sometimes politicians who don't understand that they are wearing or showcasing an item that has a specific meaning.

Is the Keffiyeh a symbol of hate or support for terrorism? Sadly yes. What was simple Arab garb since the early 20Th century, made famous in early Hollywood films such as Lawrence of Arabia, became a symbol of terrorism when Yasser Arafat began wearing the head-scarf in the early 1960's. Today Islamic terrorists and their supporters wear the garment to display their hate for Jews, Israel, America and support of terrorism.

However leave it to western culture to "take it back." Since the 1980's fashion designers have utilized the original design of the scarf to their benefit, creating a popular fashion accessory. I find it hard to believe that Rachel Ray or most celebrities and socialites have any idea of the political ramifications of the Keffiyeh. That doesn't mean that some don't know exactly what they are doing.

In a world filled with leftist intellectual wannabees, Hollywood and New York fashion types are of an ignorant leftist mind-set. It's not only chic to wear the latest fashion, but also to think on a different level. These individuals believe they are above the fray, but in reality are below the gutter.

So can we please give DD and Ms. Ray a get out of jail free card and turn our attention to the monsters who wear the Keffiyeh on their head, while launching rockets into Israel, blowing themselves up inside pizza parlors, flying planes into buildings and are attacking our men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan? Thank you.

McClellan book treated as fact by media
Leftist media and politicians get new anti-Bush ammo

Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan handed the Bush-haters and more so those who yearn to see Karl Rove hung by a tree, new ammunition in their war against the administration.

McClellan became a millionaire overnight when the three major networks, 24 hour cable news stations and print media cast the world aside and dedicated their every breath to reporting his claims against the administration. Claims that according to those who have read the book are completely unsubstantiated. Regardless, the free publicity shot his book to #1 in sales on Amazon.com.

I am not going to defend the administration against McClellan's claims or lack thereof. Truth is that I or anyone else will never how much of his book is fact, fiction, perception or revenge. I will say that I have no reason to doubt the former press secretary, but I also know that from day one, he was a horrible choice for the job.

Your brilliant blogger questioned McClellan's abilities and competence on numerous occasions. He undoubtedly demonstrated himself to be over his head against the Washington press core. It was also obvious that he was never the sharpest knife in the drawer. This is reason enough for me to believe that the administration treated him as a mouthpiece drone who was sent out to the face the world with only words and know real knowledge. That is the mistake of the Bush administration who tends to reward loyalty over ability. I call is "affirmative action-Bush style."

The McClellan book without a doubt deserves media coverage. Regarding his position with the White House and his disturbing acquisations, the story is newsworthy. However I find it interesting that when people close to the Clinton administration or fought side by side with sen. John Kerry, wrote tell all books, the media ignored it or ripped apart the author.

When Lt. Col. Robert Patterson published "Dereliction of Duty," which is a first hand account of how President Bill Clinton endangered the long term security of the United States, the media treated him like the bastard child at the family picnic. Patterson, who carried the nuclear football (briefcase) for the President, saw for himself Clinton turn down the Sudanese government's offer to literally hand over Osama Bin Laden's head on a platter. Patterson tells a story about Clinton refusing to make a decision about bombing an Al-Qaeda target that had confirmation that Bin Laden was at the camp. "He was more interested in watching Tiger Woods golf," Patterson told an audience in Northbrook, Illinois.

Patterson's book continues to have significance as he saw for himself and was personally treated with great disdain by now sen. and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who he claims despises the military and anyone who is involved with it. For some reason the media never saw relevance in his book, but has treated McClellan's as the gospel.

So much for objective journalism.

High energy costs defused by the free market
Wal-Mart devises plan to curtail high food prices

Have you been inside a Wal-Mart lately? If you have than you've noticed that not only has their grocery prices not increased, but in many cases they have lowered the cost to the consumer.

Living in the Chicago area, Wal-Mart grocery stores or "Supercenters" are not permitted to exist due to the union stronghold on the industry and the politicians in their pocket. However even a regular Wal-Mart's has a few grocery aisles and a small refrigerator and freezer section. With these limited offerings, I noticed the price of cereal, juice, pop, eggs and milk considerably less than the local chain grocery stores.

It goes without saying that Wal-Mart has better prices due to their size and volume. However at a time when fuel costs have skyrocketed and corn prices have gone through the roof due to the great ethanol scam, Wal-Mart has used the ingenuity of the free market to reduce their costs, the manufacturer's cost with the savings passed on to you.

Learn what Wal-Mart did and why the free market, not government has the solutions.

Obama's Catholic Problem
Father Pfleger brings his hate to Trinity

Did you know that Barack Obama has a second spiritual leader? In a 2004 interview with the Chicago Sun Times, Obama told a reporter that he actually has three spiritual mentors. Rev. Wright who we all know very well, Rev. James Meeks and Father Michael Pfleger.

So what do these three men have in common besides their important role in the life of Obama? For starters they have great disdain for Jews and Israel. Father Pfleger was the first prominent religious figure in Chicago to defend and honor Minister Louis Farrakhan over twenty years ago. My father recalls a statement made by Farrakhan when he blamed "Jewish control" of the media. Pfleger defended the Nation of Islam leader and said, "min Farrakhan says many things that are true."

This past weekend the dishonorable father addressed Obama's church in what turned out to be a scathing anti-Hillary Clinton rant.

"When Hillary was crying, and people said that was put on, I really don't believe it was put on," Pfleger said. "I really believe that she just always thought this is mine. I'm Bill's wife, I'm white and this is mine. I just gotta get up and step into the plate and then out of nowhere came, 'Hey, I'm Barack Obama' and she said, 'Oh, damn. Where did you come from? I'm white. I'm entitled. There's a black man stealing my show."

Pfleger would then go on and mock Clinton's crying incident. "She wasn't the only one crying. There was a whole lot of white people crying. I'm sorry. I don't want to get you in any more trouble."

When will enough be enough? How many more hateful spiritual leaders has Barack Obama trusted over the years? How many more anti-Semites and racists have greatly influenced Obama's life? How many more people does Obama have to distant himself from before the public really understands the judgement, character flaws and possible bigotry that may exist inside this man?

I will receive criticism for that last concern, but it is a legitimate question. How you can claim that the three greatest spiritual influences in your life, who are all anti-Semitic and/or racist doesn't affect you in that regard is beyond me.

The media hasn't even addressed Rev. Meeks who is an adamant homophobe and racist. Meeks disdain for gays makes the 700 Club look like a gay advocacy group.

What is for certain is that we now know why Obama wants to meet with America's enemies and those who want to finish the job Hitler started. He apparently establishes great friendships with racists, anti-Semites and America-haters. The Presidency will be a great way for him to make new friends.

Paulie
