Turkey, Dreidals and Santa Claus...The Holidays are here!

Can you at least say "Islamic Extremists?"
Clinton cancels Sikh fundraiser claiming security concerns

After watching the Democratic debate last week or should I say the CNN sponsored Clinton campaign event, I was reminded of my biggest concern about the Democratic candidates. It's not the fact that they will raise taxes or socialize medicine. It's not even for their disdain for school choice or social security privatization. The fact that these guys and gals can't even say "Islamic Extremism" or "Islamofascism," scares the Hell out of me.

Yesterday Hillary Clinton was scheduled to appear at a fundraiser with the Sikh community. A half million dollars had been raised so far and a total of a million dollars was expected to be the end result for the Clinton campaign. However, without any explanation, Hillary canceled.

Her campaign has not given an official reason, but a spokesman said "security reasons" was the rationale for the cancellation. Sikh event organizers and the local Democratic Party were informed about the cancellation for the same reason.

Your brilliant blogger has many concerns regarding this cancellation. If security concerns are indeed the case, Clinton needs to be very vocal about it. Explain that it has nothing to do with the Sikh community itself and it was a request from the secret service who obtained security information forcing the cancellation. Some in Sikh community are claiming that Clinton does not want to be seen in public with people wearing Turbans. Nobody knows for certain, but that wouldn't surprise me.

The fact is that Sikhism is not Islam, they are separate religions and very different. Unfortunately ignorant people see dark skinned people wearing Turbans and assume a form of Islam or worse, a group of terrorists. Sikh's have been targets of violence because idiots think they are Muslims. Nobody, regardless of faith should be a target of any violence. We are better than the terrorists.

Clinton is in fact missing an opportunity to educate Americans about Sikhism, which views all people as equal regardless of color, religion, caste, creed, race and sex. Islam does not. 5:51, Quran and 48:29, Quran just to point out a few passages.

Clinton has dissed the Sikh community. Is it because she doesn't want to be seen with Turban wearing Americans so close to the Iowa caucus? Maybe. Was security the real concern and if so exactly what or who? Their community has a right to know or is her campaign being quiet because they don't want to lend credence to the truth about threats from Islamic fundamentalists?

If security was the issue a room filled with American politicians and Sikhs would be a welcomed target for Islamic terrorists. She would be justified for canceling the event. Obviously if appearance concerns are the real reasons then she is a shameful politician or a racist. I'll go with the former. Clinton doesn't look at people in terms of race, religion or creed. She sees voters and donors.

Big Government forces groups to not require English
Democrats kill bill protecting Salvation Army and small business

John Fund's editorial in today's Wall Street Journal brilliantly points out the disgusting action of Democrats who refuse to allow charities and small businesses to require their employees to speak the "common language," better known as English.

According to Fund, "House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has moved to kill an amendment that would protect employers from federal lawsuits for requiring their workers to speak English. Among the employers targeted by such lawsuits: the Salvation Army." Simply put if you are a business owner or a charity organization and you must have employees who speak English, you can be sued for discrimination if a non-English speaking person is not hired or fired because they can't communicate with your clients or customers. Can I get a big WTF!

Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander, who wrote the amendment said, "I cannot imagine that the framers of the 1964 Civil Rights Act intended to say that it's discrimination for a shoe shop owner to say to his or her employee, 'I want you to be able to speak America's common language on the job.' "

This amendment debacle has caused quiet a stir amongst Democrats. The Hispanic caucus threatened Pelosi to not support her efforts to curtail the Alternative Minimum Tax unless she killed the Alexander amendment. In what was a finer pointing fight on the Senate floor, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) yelled at members of the Hispanic caucus, "How dare you destroy this party? This will be the worst loss in 10 years."

This legislation can be used to destroy thousands of small businesses and charities nationwide. Any person or group with a grudge against any business can send in a person in who doesn't or refuses to speak English for a job and when that person is denied, the lawsuits begin.

The bottom line is that government has no right to tell a business owner who they can and can't hire. If a business discriminates against anyone, word will get out and the free market will take care of the business. Requiring English is not discriminating it's surviving and it's common sense.

So what happened to common sense? Years ago I was against the idea of an official language. My view has changed over the years. If common sense is taken out of the equation then I see no alternative but to have an official language amendment added to the constitution.

It's on the way to protect citizens against the irrational behavior of big government.
