World needs an injection of common sense

What is the deal with oil...the real deal?
What wasn't done and what needs to be done now

I was looking at my gasoline expenditures recently and it occurred to me how horrific the situation truly is. Mind you I have a very stable middle-class lifestyle, so if I'm hurting the lower classes must be in dire straits. With that in mind you would think that politicians, especially Democrats who supposed to champion the poor, would do everything in their power to alleviate the pain. Unfortunately the only immediate relief means removing the taxes associated with each gallon of gas.

I'm not talking about the 18 cents the federal government hits the consumer per gallon purchased at the pump. I'm referring to that amount as well as all the state and local taxes tacked on. What is equivalent to 15 to 20% of your total gas tab depending on where you live. The harsh reality is that tax relief is the only immediate solution.

The mainstream press and their leftist cohorts are doing everything in their power to tell you that drilling is not the answer. The reality is that drilling is the answer and the only answer. ANWR, offshore anywhere and everywhere their is oil within our borders, it must be brought up and refined. The environmental concerns are a big lie and have been debunked time and time again. Sure we need alternative sources and in time they will be developed and the sooner the better.

However even if we found a way to run cars on cow manure it won't happen overnight. All the new energy in the world won't change the fact that ten, twenty and even thirty years from now, we will need some oil. Why not get the majority of that oil from within our borders, stop funding OPEC, Iran, Madrases and Hugo Chavez. If not for the economic benefits, how about for the the war on terrorism and national security.

The Free Market has already set in motion ways to lesson gasoline use age. General Motors, Ford, Honda and Toyota are already putting forward plans to mass produce fuel cell cars by 2010. Hybrids are being implemented into more models, but with the Toyota Prius being the exception, Hybrids gasoline performance is not all it's been cracked up to be.

Big oil companies know that their future will depend on alternative energy and how a big pay day is ahead for the next mainstream energy source. However the idea of windfall profit taxes orchestrated by the environmental lobby and the Democrats they have in their pocket, will only deplete the incentives for these companies to invest in the future. Besides, how does Exxon paying more taxes helps the single mother with two jobs and two kids? Please answer me Mr. Obama.

I'm no longer going to dwell on oil prices because it's too depressing. The pain at the pump must serve as an example of how our politicians let us down. When drilling in ANWR was authorized by congress in 1995, President Clinton vetoed the bill. We would have begun enjoying those resources five years ago and gas would of never reached above $3.00 a gallon. President Bush sat on his ass for seven years, having a GOP congress for five years and never did anything to increase domestic drilling. Now he wants to drill and Nancy Pelosi is laughing at you.

Gas prices will continue to rise and probably top out at just under $5.00 a gallon. Congress will have for show only hearings that result in finger pointing and no action. Democrats and Republicans will blame each other, Dems secretly enjoying the suffering and Repubs to afraid to do anything about it. Barack Obama even admitted he was OK with higher prices, but supposedly not this quickly.

In the meantime tell little Bobby and Betty that their dream vacation to Disney World is postponed indefinitely.

The indisputable king of hypocrisy
Al Gore hoards energy expects you to cut back

Watching Al Gore endorse Barack Obama for President last weekend beckoned me to ask the question how could anyone care what this egotistical hypocrite wants or believes. The man who has perpetuated one of the greatest frauds in human history proves he doesn't believe his own B.S. by the way he lives his life.

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, a Nashville-based free market think tank and watchdog organization, obtained information about Gore’s home energy use through a public records request to the Nashville Electric Service. What they found is sad and comical at the same time.

It turns out that the world's leading environmentalist this past year burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month. That means Tipper and AL use 25 times the amount of energy per month than the average schmuck on the street.

Now Gore will tell you that he makes up for his personal energy use, which includes private jets and motorcades in addition to his home through purchasing carbon credits, which is another environmental scam.

The truth is that Gore continues to be the worlds leading hypocrite. Maybe greed is Gore's true incentive, seeing his personal wealth increase by over 100 million dollars due to speaking fees and corporate investments related to global warming hysteria.

Regardless of his motive there is no denying that Gore expects you and I to conserve energy, while he travels around the world in a private jet, relaxes in an energy gauging home and preaches how we are all doomed unless we change our ways. Hey Al change yours first.

Moveon.org goes after McCain
New ad makes 1964 "Daisy Girl" walk in the park

Even if you weren't alive in 1964, every so often we are reminded of how the DNC scared America with the famous Daisy Girl commercial. Recently the ultra leftist group Moveon.org released an ad titled "Not Alex", depicting a mother holding her baby telling John McCain he can't send Alex to Iraq.

Hey George Soros, do the words "volunteer military," mean anything to you? Did you know that we still have thousands of troops in Germany, Japan and South Korea?

I'm sure you do, but if we can convey a lie and instill fear in moms to promote our political agenda than the ends justify the means. That sums up Progressive thinking.

Israel and Hamas truce in effect
Real peace or suicide pact for Jews?

Hamas agrees to stop attacking Israel, while Israel agrees to stop going after militants. Meanwhile, Iran and Syria restock Hamas's weapons cache so they are better armed to kill Jews and defend themselves down the road.

Expect Hamas to break the cease fire around the high holidays in late September, just in time to blow up a shul during Rosh Hoshana.

Can't promise a Shabbat Shalom post tomorrow. I have a date with a golf club and a tee time.

Paulie
