Supreme Court finally gets one right
High court sides with second amendment

In December of 2003 Morio L. Billings a crack-addict who was AWOL from the military had burglarized a home in Wilmette, Illinois taking the keys to the family SUV, a Sony Play Station, T.V. and of course the vehicle the keys operated. Desperate for drugs and needing money for his dope, Billings went back to the same home the next night looking for money.

This time when he went through the dog door he tripped the alarm system. So desperate to feed his habit he decided to continue his search for money and any high ticket item he could get money for on the street. What he found was the homeowner watching over his two children armed with a .38 caliber handgun.

Fearing for his own life and the life of his children, Hale DeMar shot at Billings striking him in the left arm. The drug-addict was able to flee the scene and drove DeMar's car to a nearby hospital where he would later be arrested. Also facing charges was DeMar who's 2 handguns were confiscated as he faced charges for violating Wilmette's ban on hand guns.

Nearly five years later common sense and the constitution have prevailed against what can only be described as fascist gun laws.

In a 5-4 decision the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Washington D.C. ban on handguns which will ultimately makes similar laws in Chicago, San Francisco and other major cities and suburbs unconstitutional. The above mentioned suburb of Wilmette, just north of Chicago has already announced they will no longer enforce their handgun ban until village attorneys can determine the high courts ruling affect on their ordinance. The nearby suburb of Morton Grove, which was the first municipality to outlaw hand guns in 1981 has already announced they will comply with the courts ruling.

Your brilliant blogger applauds the courts ruling and believes the more law biding citizens owning hand guns the safer society will be.

For those who disagree with the ruling and fear more gun violence, let me remind you that D.C, Chicago and other major cities that up until yesterday banned all hand guns have significantly higher crime and murder rates than communities that permit gun ownership. Why is that the reality?

It's rather simple. Criminals such as gang bangers and drug dealers do not walk into Don's gun store and buy hand guns. They get their weapons from a black market created by asinine gun laws. How often are violent crimes committed by legally purchased firearms? Rarely!

Areas of this country that permit conceal and carry rarely have any violent crime. As John Stossel found out in a 20/20 report, criminals admit their biggest fear is their potential victim possessing a gun.

That alone is good enough for me.

Court ruling exposes the real Obama
Candidate has no position just political pandering

"I Don't Believe That People Should Be Able To Own Guns," Barack Obama told Freedomnomics author John Lott Jr. during a meeting the two had in 1996. However today it depends on the political climate, audience or publication when it comes to expressing an opinion about second amendment issues.

If you take a close look at Obama's political career and voting record, it's very clear that he opposes the right to bear arms as he indicated in the above mentioned quote. However when asked about the supreme court ruling overturning Washington D.C. handgun ban, it's hard to tell what Obama believes.

In a carefully worded statement Obama thanked the courts for providing "much-needed guidance to local jurisdictions across the country," as well as "I always believed that the second Amendment protects the right of individuals to bear arms, but I also identify with the need for crime-ravaged communities to save their children from the violence that plagues our streets through common-sense, effective safety measures."

Hey Barack! Do you agree or disagree with the ruling? Can you throw the public a bone and offer and honest opinion instead of this fear of pissing off a particular constituency.

Obama is a former professor of constitutional law at the University of Chicago. If anyone can understand the courts ruling and offer an informed personal opinion it's Obama. But no.

Obama is on record for expressing his support for the D.C gun ban. However yesterday morning his campaign was already trying to reposition themselves by disavowing last November's pro-ban comment.

The sad reality is that Barack Obama is taking a chapter out of Bill Clinton's political playbook and not offering an opinion, but testing the political waters so not to offend any voters. Obama knows that being viewed as anti-second amendment is a political death sentence in crucial states such as Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia and New Mexico. However the man who is running a campaign based on "change" and "hope" and ending the political pandering and status- quo of Washington is nothing but a hypocrite.

Obama has a right to be anti-gun. Being the case, support your beliefs and make your argument to the American people. Stop waffling, find a backbone and run on your values. For Obama that may be hard to do since it appears he doesn't have either.

Paulie
