Is John Edwards using Ann Coulter?
Free publicity and liberal street credit the true motive

Readers of Paulies Points know that your brilliant blogger is not a fan of Ann Coulter. The Conservative columnist is a true drama queen who craves the spotlight and does so by creating controversy instead of substance. What is truly bothersome about Coulter is that she is a great writer, who's books "Treason," and "Godless, The Church of Liberalism," made very legitimate points and were defended well.

Many months back I was critical of Coulter for her reference to John Edwards as a "Fag." Edwards took Coulter's comment and used it as a rallying cry for his Presidential campaign. This past week, Elizabeth Edwards tried to use Coulter to once again add steam to her husband's bid for the White House.

During an interview with Good Morning America, Coulter once again defended her "Fag" reference and to her credit did so with an appropriate comment. "I wouldn't insult gays by comparing them to John Edwards, that would be mean," she said. Coulter claims she never called Edwards the "F-Word," and her statement was made in a humorous manner. She then made a great point mentioning how HBO Real Time host Bill Maher did say he wished " Dick Cheney was killed in a terrorist attack." That comment received very little media attention and was quickly forgotten. Coulter alluded that it must be OK to wish someone be murdered in a terrorist attack, so she has learned her lesson and "next time I want to say anything about John Edwards, I'll just say I wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot."

By no means did she call for Edwards to be murdered or say she wished he was dead. However, John and Elizabeth Edwards see votes and financial contributions, so they have decided to turn Coulter's harmless comment into political gain.

Earlier this week, Coulter appeared on Hardball and Elizabeth Edwards called in to supposedly ask Coulter to "stop the personal attacks." Edwards didn't call about the F-word comment, she called about he statement made on Good morning America. However, any clear thinking person who listens to the interview knows Coulter didn't say anything wrong. She didn't call for Edwards to be killed as Bill Maher did regarding the Vice President. Nonetheless, when political opportunity calls, you can count on the Edwards to utilize the opportunity.

Mrs. Edwards put on a great show during her call into Hardball. She came across as this well mannered southern lady, who had been terribly hurt by Coulter's remarks. Unfortunately for Coulter her natural demeanor is harsh, so she comes across mean. Regardless of appearances, Elizabeth Edwards, who I wrote about very positively in he past, showed her true colors. Like her husband, she is an elitist who believes that truth and honesty are not as important as political power.

Since Coulter is despised by the political-left, any candidate publicly confronting her will earn street credit amongst the Progressives, who are crucial in winning the Democratic nomination. So why not twist Coulter's words for yor own political ambitions. Maybe the importance of character and integrity is only a bumper sticker slogan.

London Terror Attack Thwarted
Even as Blair leaves terrorists show their true colors

Even as Tony Blair leaves office and British troop withdrawal from Iraq will most likely be moved up, Islamic extremist show that our way of life is why hey hate us. A car bomb found in London's West End contained 60 litres of petrol, a large amount of nails and several gas canisters. The device discovered in a Mercedes could of caused "significant injury or loss of life" according to British authorities.

The Neville Chamberlain approach of appeasement continues to be a recipe for suicide. Sadly the majority of people in Europe and too many in the United States, still believe that Muslim extremists would leave the West alone if they didn't support Israel, conducted business in Muslim countries or had any military presence in the Arab world. The fact is that they hate our way of life. Freedom of religion, women's rights, tolerance of homosexuals are the reasons they want to kill us. Everything else is propaganda.

The London bombing attempt has just hit the wires, so keep yourself near the Internet to get updates. Yes, I am assuming the threat came from Islamic militants. Nobody on earth is this hateful.
