Decency Does Prevail

Anti-Israel Groups Rally?
Bigger turn-out at my kids birthday parties

To coincide with the 40Th anniversary of the Six-Day War, anti-Israel groups organized protest events around the world to show their disdain for the Jewish State. The main problem with the demonstrations, besides it's subject matter, was that nobody showed up.

Groups such as United for Peace and Justice, Code Pink, Answer Coalition and Democracy Now sponsored or promoted the demonstration in Washington, that turned out to be no bigger than my four year-old birthday party. All kidding aside, the D.C. event was publicized to have tens of thousands of people and in reality, a few hundred showed up.

The highlight of the event and every anti-Israel gathering is the exploitation of a sympathetic Jew to their cause. This events token is actress/comedian, Roseanne Barr. The front runner to replace Rosie O'Donnell on the View, made a videotaped message calling for "the end of the American taxpayer support of, as well as the United States government's support of, the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands."

No Jew or American should ever loose sleep over the opinions of a typical Hollywood leftist political whore, such as Barr. What is frightening and something of interest to watch will be to see if she gets offered the vacant View seat. Anytime ignorance gets and audience, more people become ill-informed.

In London, a solidarity rally took place featuring a video message from Palestinian Prime Minister and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. The British event was supposed to have over ten thousand demonstrators, but only 2500 showed up. This meant that everyone was permitted to get seconds on scones and free tea refills were permitted.

By no means do I want to take away from the serious nature of these events. The groups mentioned disguise themselves as anti-war groups and peace organizations. The reality is that they are vehemently anti-Semitic and have no interest in a two-state solution. They believe that the only Israel that exists should be one with no Jews.

Granted they may have had pathetic turn-outs over the weekend, but they orchestrate campaigns that spew hate towards Jews and America. Currently they are creating anti-Israel sentiments within the African American community with a letter campaign created to compare Arab struggles with the civil rights movement in the United States. Sadly, this just adds fuel to an already growing epidemic of black hatred toward Jews.

One silver lining that comes out of the dark clouds of anti-Semitism is the counter protest demonstrations that instantly mobilize to combat the hate. When this event was announced, Jewish and Christian groups all across American began working together to show their solidarity with Israel. Often the counter-demonstrators far out number the Israel haters.

It is always interesting to observe an anti-Israel and for that matter, anti-war rally. The participants usually look like they just were featured on the Jerry Springer show or aren't aware that Jerry Garcia died and are trying to find the next Grateful Dead concert. The women are always dressed in a manner that if they were among the people they are rallying for, they would be stoned to death for violating Sharia law.

Character Counts
For Lieberman it's about truth, not politics

Are you a Democrat or a Republican? It's a question I despise. The idea of blindly voting for a candidate purely based on their political affiliation has always been appalling to me. Granted I vote 95% Republican and the other 5% are usually Independents or Libertarians. So does that make me a Republican, Independent or Libertarian? Does it really matter? It shouldn't, because no one Party is right 100% of the time. Even though Democrats are wrong 99%.

With that said, there is one Democrat who I have always been fond of and that is Connecticut Senator, Joe Lieberman. The former Vice Presidential candidate is not a conservative or limited government legislator. He is undoubtedly a liberal. However, Lieberman has a trait that very few politicians possess, he is a man of unquestionable character and integrity.

Since the war in Iraq began, the Connecticut Senator has traveled to Baghdad six times. He wants to see for himself what is really going on and report back to his constituents. When he visited our troops before the 2006 election cycle, he committed the ultimate sin in the eyes of the Democratic establishment...he reported good news.

In response, the Party he was the VP candidate for just a few years earlier, abandoned him. Lieberman has also been supportive of many of the Bush Tax cuts. Any American who has a grain of economic sense can see how tax-cuts have greatly benefited our nation. Lieberman has gone against his Party leaders and praised the cuts, while Democrats refuse to accept the idea of Americans spending their own money and have recently proposed the largest tax increases in our nations history.

This past Sunday on CBS "Face the Nation," Lieberman advocated military strikes against Iran. "I think we've got to be prepared to take aggressive military action against the Iranians to stop them from killing Americans in Iraq." Besides supporting insurgents killing Americans in Iraq, evidence has also recently been discovered that Iran is shipping weapons to the Taliban in Afghanistan.

During a time when many Democrats are undermining our troops abroad and catering to the anti-American Progressive left, Lieberman realizes that a foreign government is murdering our soldiers and believes we must respond. The now labeled Independent-Democrat, Lieberman makes it clear when asked about taking action against Iran. "I am. And I want to make clear I'm not talking about a massive ground invasion of Iran, but we have good evidence," he said. "A strike over the border into Iran, where we have good evidence that they have a base at which they are training these people coming back into Iraq to kill our soldiers."

Agree or disagree with him, you cannot question his priorities, which is the well-being of the United States. Lieberman personal convictions, faith and family is what defines this great American. If every politician on both sides of the aisle had his integrity, the system would work better and politicians wouldn't be viewed as negatively as lawyers and journalists.

Thank you Mr. Senator for just being a husband, father, grandfather, Jew and American. Not a political hack.

Andrea- not anon
I was at the Standwithus rally. Age of Hooper missed the slob from NYC who mooned us as he walked past us. A perfect representative of his cause. The Hooper video is good because while I knew there were not many at the Capitol - his video shows how pathetic it was and also the sorts of morons who were there. When UFPJ(a minsnomer!) tries to draw in Black Americans, they should remember that Martin Luther King said that if you are anti-zionist, you are an anti-semite.

The "Age of Hooper" video is priceless. Anyone can check out how pathetic the rally was at http://ageofhooper.blogspot.com/2007/06/lamest-protest-rally.html

Thank you for reminding me of the great comment Dr. King made, which came from a letter he wrote in 1967. http://christianactionforisrael.org/antiholo/ml_king.html

Correction: The statement by Dr. King was amade at a Harvard University speech in 1968, "“When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews. You are talking anti-Semitism.” The legitimacy of the letter I spoke of has been questioned. Regardless, King did make the statement. Too bad Jackson, Sharpton, West and too many others dishonor his name.
