Pelosi's Ignorance
Madame Speaker Visits Syria
Forgets who she is really dealing with
Neville Chamberlain would of been proud of Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). The House Speaker defied the Bush administration and visited the terrorist sponsor nation of Syria to meet with the nations leaders in Damascus. After meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad she stated, "the road to Damascus is a road to peace."
Believe it or not, I didn't have any qualms with Pelosi going to Syria. Anyone who thinks the United States doesn't have behind the scenes conversations with Syria, Iran or any country that is on the Axis of Evil list is living in the Twilight Zone. However, visiting any country as an elected official, especially a high position such as Speaker of the House, you better know the difference between your ass and a hole in the wall. Sadly, the grandmother from San Francisco does not.
When Pelosi makes statements such as the above comment, she exposes her inability to be on the world stage and more importantly her incompetence as a representative of the United States. National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johhdroe said about Pelosi's comments, "Unfortunately that road is lined with the victims of Hamas and Hezbollah, the victims of terrorists who cross from Syria into Iraq." Your brilliant blogger couldn't of said it better.
Pelosi brought a message to President Assad from Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that Israel was ready for peace talks with Syria. However, an Israeli government official later said this would only be possible if Syria abandoned terror and stopped assisting terror groups.
The Speaker said of the Syrian President,"He's ready to engage in negotiations for peace with Israel." If Pelosi truly believes her statement, she needs to put down the crack pipe. Israel has been wanting peace with Syria as well as all of her neighbors, since her creation sixty years ago. As the Israeli government official stated, Syria must abandoned terrorism and supporting terrorist groups. Israel will even discuss the question of the Golan Heights, if Syria would stop supporting and training organizations who believe blowing up woman and children are justified. Maybe then and only then can peace be accomplished.
Even though I didn't have a problem with Pelosi talking to Syria, the outcome of her trip leaves nothing to be desired. In the end Syria got to use Pelosi. With her comments referring to Syria as a legitimate partner in peace without any terror condemnation coming from Damascus, Syria got the opportunity to speak with a high ranking U.S. official, got excellent PR and gave nothing in return. More importantly Pelosi's trip will be used by European and Arab nations to resume relations and trade with Syria after following the U.S. lead and isolating the terror sponsoring nation.
Thanks Nancy, next time just bake the murderers some cookies, give them to Martin Sheen to hand deliver and stay home.
Taxpayers get out the Vaseline
Democrats record tax increase targets families
Anyone who knows me personally or through my blog have heard me express my anger toward the Republican Party for increasing the size of government and flushing fiscal responsibility down the toilet. However, every so often I am reminded how much worse the Democrats are when it comes to spending and their recent budget proposal for 2008 is a shining example.
This month, the House of Representatives will debate the Democrats' 2008 proposed budget. If it is passed, this budget will impose the largest tax increase in history on American taxpayers -- totaling nearly $400 billion over five years. Families with children, low-income families, and small businesses all would be hit with hundreds if not thousands of dollars in increased taxes.
Just what taxes will be raised? Here are some of the specifics of the Democratic proposal courtesy of Human Events.Com.
The 10% Tax Bracket Will Become 15%: More than five million families and individuals who previously owed no taxes will become subject to taxation.
Marriage Penalty Relief Will Be Eliminated: 23 million Americans will owe an average of $466 in additional taxes in 2011.
The Child Tax Credit Will Be Cut in Half: 31 million Americans will pay an average of $859 more in taxes in 2011.
So how much more will you pay?
A family of four earning $60,000 a year: Your income-tax bill will rise 61% in 2011, from $3,030 to $4,893.
An elderly couple earning $40,000 a year: Your taxes will go up by 156% in 2011, from $583 to $1,489.
48 million married couples will pay an average of $2,899 more under the liberal tax increase.
42 million families with children will pay an average of $2,181 more in taxes.
26 million small-business owners will get a tax bill for an average of $3,960 more than before.
Taking away funds for the troops in Iraq isn't enough, they want to take away the hard earned money of average Americans too.
Paulie
