So they'd be taking medication that their doctor wouldn't even know about.

When they go to the pediatrician, the mother generally will be in the room during the exam, so it would never come up.

At the gynecologist, the girl is generally alone with the doctor and a nurse so she could tell them this important tidbit.

So, while I still think the whole thing is retarded, I might sleep a little better if a prescription came from the girl's gyno than the school nurse.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14914476.post-47310298263684652442007-10-17T16:13:00.000-05:002007-10-17T16:13:00.000-05:00Thank you Dijea for your comments.I don't want the...Thank you Dijea for your comments.

I don't want the government or public school system deciding if my children should have birth control available to them. It's simply not their job, but it is my job as a parent to break down barriers with my children and talk about sex honestly and openly.

As far as the country is doing, again parental responsibilty. Maybe if we didn't glamorize single parenthood or as the womens movement dictates, who need a man around, teenagers and pre-teens would have the stability at home to make better decisions.

As far as the country goes, if we weren't so over-taxed and one parent was willing to stay home, a parent would be able to be home for their children when they get home from school. Parental involvement.

It goes back to family and the responsibility of mom and/or dad.Paul Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04742538228596385041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14914476.post-87873063533527341782007-10-17T11:30:00.000-05:002007-10-17T11:30:00.000-05:00I think it is a little extreem to hand out birth c...I think it is a little extreem to hand out birth control to an 11 year old without parental notification, but kids have sex earlier & earlier and I know for a fact by my life & my husbands kids do not always follow what their parents tell them and some parents do not educate their kids on sex.

I wish it was different. I wish parents started a dialog with their kids so that they could feel comfortable about talking about anything. Avoidance is ignorance & I would hope that there could be a better alternative to teenage & preteen sex that what Maine is doing.

I don't disagree with you, I just know what the country is doing now isn't working either.Dijeahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14725203752904450834noreply@blogger.com
